Straight Street stands for something specific: that recovery housing can be structured without being cold, accountable without being punitive, and faith-informed without being exclusive. This is what we build toward every day.
Straight Street's mission is to provide structured, dignified sober living environments in east Alabama communities where recovery housing is needed most. We believe recovery is not just about staying sober — it's about building a life worth protecting.
These aren't words on a wall. They're the decisions we make every day about how we run our homes and treat the people in them.
Real accountability isn't about punishment. It's about having people in your corner who care enough to hold you to the standard you set for yourself.
Isolation is the enemy of recovery. Our homes are designed so no one walks alone. Shared meals, group meetings, and daily life together create bonds that outlast any program.
Every person who walks through our door deserves respect. Clean, well-maintained homes. Clear expectations. And the belief that their future is worth investing in.
Sobriety without direction is fragile. We connect residents to employment, education, and community involvement because having something to build toward makes staying sober worth it.
Freedom without structure leads back to old patterns. Our daily routines, house rules, and graduated responsibilities create the discipline that supports lasting change.
Our name comes from Acts 9:11 — "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street." We believe in the power of transformation, second chances, and meeting people exactly where they are.
Our residents typically come from treatment centers, detox facilities, incarceration, or crisis situations. Wherever they're coming from, they enter a graduated structure designed to rebuild independence step by step.
Highest level of structure. Daily check-ins, mandatory meetings, curfew, and supervised integration into the house community. The focus is stabilization, orientation, and building trust.
Increased responsibility and expanded privileges. Residents begin employment or education, take on house duties, and develop the habits that sustain long-term recovery.
Preparing to move forward. Financial planning, housing search support, and continued community connection. Residents in this phase often mentor newer members, reinforcing their own growth.
We work closely with courts, treatment centers, the VA, and family services to ensure residents have coordinated support. Our referral partners know they're placing people in a structured environment with clear accountability and open communication.
If you're a treatment center, court officer, or family member looking for quality recovery housing for someone you care about, we'd like to talk.
We provide regular progress reports, maintain open communication with referral sources, and hold our residents to the standards you expect. Our homes are clean, well-managed, and built for people who are serious about their recovery.
